Dr. Deena Hawasli is a current post graduate 2nd year pediatric dental resident at NYU Langone Dental Medicine in Tampa, FL. She was born and raised in Detroit, MI. As a Michigan native, she attended the University of Detroit Mercy for her undergraduate studies and received her doctorate degree at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 2019. For her record of excellence in patient-centered care and education, she became the recipient of numerous scholarships while at the University of Michigan. Soon after graduating, she relocated to the sunshine state and has been practicing in the Southwest Florida area serving the pediatric community. Since working in the local community, she has quickly created a bond and friendship with her patients that is centered on trust and compassion.
Dr. Hawasli’s passions include providing access to dental care for the underserved community. Her continued interest to excel in her field lead her to pursue her pediatric specialty training at NYU langone Health. Her participation in this FQHC based program further exemplifies her passion for community care, working with children, and providing patients with a positive experience that will last their dental lifetime.
When Dr. Hawasli is not in the office, she enjoys spending quality time with her husband, trying new restaurants, and walking the outdoors. Her personal interests also include staying active by engaging in indoor cycling, yoga, and pilates. In addition, she enjoys expanding her creative talents by drawing, painting, and writing poetry. An interesting fact about Dr. Hawasli is she raised two pet turtles in her childhood. This inspired her to consider a field in Marine Biology prior to pursuing her passion for dentistry. As a pediatric dental provider, Dr. Hawasli strives to continue her initiative in serving the local community and further fostering a comfortable, positive dental environment.
