Assessment of Pediatric Dental Providers Interest and Comfort in Providing Vaccines in the Dental Office Research supported by BRANY IRB, 24-12-554-124 (HHC)
Purpose: The goal of this study is to determine whether vaccines should be offered in pediatric dental offices. The objective of this study is to determine whether pediatric dentists are interested in offering vaccines in their practices, which vaccinations and if more education is needed for providers before offering vaccines
Methods: This study will rely upon data collected from a survey sent out via hyperlink to all pediatric residents and pediatric dentists on the AAPD emailing list. The online survey software from surveymonkey.com will be used. Questions from the survey will include information on the provider’s location, type of practice, years of practice, comfort providing various vaccines and willingness to provide various vaccines. Questions will also include whether the providers already offer any vaccines in their office.
Results: Results of the current study are pending as surveys are to be distributed. Analysis will be completed once the study period has concluded.
Conclusion: The hypothesis is that there will be a statistically significant number of providers interested in offering seasonal vaccines in their dental clinic. There will be a statistically significant number of providers who are not interested in providing all childhood vaccinations in their dental clinic.
