University of Iowa
My name is Juyoung "Joyce" An, and I am currently a third-year resident in pediatric dentistry and dental public health at the University of Iowa. I graduated from the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dentistry in 2013. After graduation, I practiced as a general dentist in a private practice in Lawrence, Massachusetts, for one year, before spending 7.5 years at a Federally Qualified Health Center in Providence, Rhode Island.
Working with underserved populations, particularly during the pandemic, inspired me to refine both my clinical skills and my understanding of public health. This experience motivated me to pursue a dual residency in pediatric dentistry and dental public health, with a focus on prevention to better serve both individual patients and entire communities.
Outside of my professional life, I enjoy traveling, discovering new restaurants and local coffee shops, and watching Korean dramas.
