Stephanie L. Helmus, DDS, MS, is a second-year pediatric dentistry resident at Texas A&M College of Dentistry, Dallas, TX. Dr. Helmus earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry in 2013. She has postgraduate training in Comprehensive Dentistry and a master’s degree in Oral Biology from the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences. Dr. Helmus is board-certified in the American Board of General Dentistry, earned her Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry, and is a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Dental Society. She is a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army serving in many capacities throughout her military career including Hohenfels Dental Clinic Officer-In-Charge (OIC), Hohenfels, Germany, Dental OIC and sole dental officer for the Role 3 at the Baghdad Diplomatic Support Center, Baghdad, Iraq, Chief Dental Officer for the 30th Medical Brigade, Sembach, Germany, and Assistant Program Director for the Fort Carson One-Year Advanced Education in General Dentistry Program, Fort Carson, CO. She is married to her husband of twelve years, Timothy Walstra. Outside of dentistry and education, her passions are running, listening to audiobooks, yoga, traveling, and hiking with her dog, Kona.
