Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explore the factors that influence alumni participation and giving among dental resident graduates from university post-graduate certificate programs. While existing studies have identified variables such as family ties, involvement in university activities, and student experiences as predictors of alumni giving, little is known about their impact on membership within dental alumni associations. This research aims to fill this gap by examining how these and other factors, such as age and years since graduation, influence the likelihood of participation in alumni associations and giving behavior among dental residents.
Methods: Dentists who have graduated from a post-graduate certificate program at the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC will be invited to participate in this study. A REDCap survey will be distributed via email through Mailchimp to these graduates.
Results: The survey results will be analyzed to better understand how demographic characteristics, individual experiences, and circumstances influence both participation and giving patterns among dental residents.
Conclusions: By examining these factors, the study seeks to provide insights into how dental residency alumni can be better engaged and encouraged to contribute to their university’s alumni association.
